Most businesses are closed on Sundays and on Public Holidays.
In larger towns, most businesses including stores and tourist services will be open Monday to Saturday, from 08:00am to 17:00pm or 18:00pm, often with a lunchtime hour from 13:00pm to 14:00pm. In rural areas, small shops can be open almost all day.
Museums open at similar times: Monday to Saturday from 08:00am to 17:00pm.
Larger Post Offices usually open Monday to Friday from 08:00am to 17:00am and Saturday from 09:00am to 13:00am. Smaller ones, may open Monday to Friday, from 08:00am to 12:30pm and from 14:00am to 17:00pm.
Office hours are generally Monday to Friday from 09:00am to 13:00pm and from 14:00pm to 17:00pm, closing from 13:00pm to 14:00pm (the hour over lunch). Offices will be closed on Saturday.
Banks, opening hours in major cities are Monday to Friday from 09.00am to 15:00pm, on Saturdays (sometimes only the first and last Saturday of the month) from 09:00am to 11:00am. Nowadays, many banks are equipped with 24 hours ATM machines. Banks at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Moi International Airport runs 24 hour exchange money services.
In Muslim areas, opening hours may vary during the celebration of Ramadan: eating places will be closed during the day and shops and businesses will close at dusk.
