MAASAI PEOPLE

The Maasai are an indigenous African tribe, famous as herders and warriors, due its nomadic nature, distinctive customs and dress they are one of the most well known ethnic groups in Africa. According to their oral history, they originated near Lake Turkana, still maintain many of their cultural traditions; such as initiations to become warriors. They ignore international boundaries, they move their herds freely from one place to another with the changing of seasons. Their ideal was to life in peace with nature.

MOUNT KENYA

Mount Kenya (5,202 meters) is one of the most impressive landscapes of Kenya, this is the highest mountain in Kenya and the second highest in Africa, after Kilimanjaro. Mount Kenya is the home of the Supreme Being 'Ngai', the god of the Maasai, Kikuyu and Kamba ethnic groups.

The mountain is located in the Mount Kenya National Park at 180 kilometers north of Nairobi, ten glaciers cover the mountain peaks, its main peaks are Batian, Nelion and Lenana, the peak of Lenana is easy to reach by any trekker in good condition, this trek takes between 3 and 5 days.

The magnificent landscape is a point to visit, its rain-forests are ideal for game viewing, you will see antelope, buffalo, elephant, monkeys, giant forest hog among others.

HELL'S GATE NATIONAL PARK

This tiny National Park covers and area of 68,25 km2 and is located near to Lake Naivasha about 90km from Nairobi. Despite its name, the park is a peaceful area where you can practise cycling, climbing, hiking, or simply walk alongside with zebras, giraffes, gazelles and antelopes. Its wide variety of wildlife includes also cheetah, hyena, buffalo, topi, impala and much more, the park also has a wide variety of bird-life.

Hell's Gate s famous for its spectacular scenarios including cliffs, volcanoes, gorges, hot geysers. Fisher's Tower (formerly a volcano's plug), Central Tower, Olkaria Geothermal Station and Njorowa Gorges are some popular tourist spots. The park has very good and well equipped 3 campsites.

GEDE RUINS

Gede Ruins are located 19 km south of Malindi and 94 km north of Mombasa, Gede is a 12th century Swahili settlement, that was mysteriously abandoned in the early 17th century, this days the ruins are a complex of Mosques, tombs, magnificent palaces and houses, over the ruins has grown numerous indigenous species of flora and fauna.

Nowadays is one of the principal historical monuments on the Kenyan coast and is a gazetted National Monument since 1927, managed by the National Museums of Kenya.

WATAMU MARINE NATIONAL PARK

Watamu Marine National Park was established in 1968, this World Biosphere Reserve has white sand beaches for swimming and sunning, its reef is home to over 150 species of hard and soft corals and over 600 species of fish and other sea creatures. There are also rock pools for exploring.

Watamu Marine National Park is one of the world's top diving and snorkeling areas with whale sharks, manta rays, octopus and barracuda as some species encountered, is also a vital turtle breeding area. A Glass bottomed boat will transport you to this amazing National Park.
