Explore Diani Beach

JADINI FOREST

The Jadini Forest maybe is the last, of once extensive coastal woods, sacred to the natives as they believe that the dead spirits live on in the trees and their surroundings. Is excellent for bird watching and a favorite haunt for leopard too. Here you will see white-bearded Colobus monkeys and noisy swarms of horn-bills, doing some acrobatics on the strong branches of the baobab trees (Adansonia).

Mainly, the Jadini forest is home to Baboons, Vervet monkeys and the endangered Colobus, you can pick up more information in the WAKULUZU: Friends of the Colobus Trust at:

KONGO MOSQUE

The Kongo Mosque, also know as Diani Persian Mosque, is one of the major religious monuments of Kenya, famous for its unique African architecture, is the only remaining stone building from a Wa-shirazi settlement. Built between the 14th. and 15th. century, Kongo Mosque is almost intact, even Islamic leaders have encouraged their community to begin worshipping there again.

This enigmatic building surrounded by baobabs, lies at the north end of Diani Beach, in very fertile area (local farmers bring their produce to their colorful markets). It is most easily reached through the Indian Ocean Beach Club.

TIWI BEACH

Tiwi is 17km south of the Likoni Ferry; it is a tropical paradise on the coasts of the Indian ocean, with relatively quiet stretches of white sandy beaches covered with coconut palms. Tiwi is a spot for sun-worshippers and snorkelers; it is easy to arrange snorkel gear here to explore the spectacular reefs.
