The National Museum is the best and biggest museum in Kenya, located only at 1 km walk from the city centre, it has a vast treasure of cultural heritage, geological information, impressive collections of bird and wildlife species and natural-history exhibits.

Maasai Market
Maasai Market

Maasai Market is one of the best places to get African crafts, you will find traditional wares, including bead-work, baskets, carvings, jewelry, picture frames, plates, kikoys, purses, drums, gourds and much more. The Maasai Market open Tuesday and Friday at the top of Moi Avenue.


Railway Museum
Railway Museum

National Railway Museum was established in 1971 to preserve and display the history of the railways of East Africa. Situated at the north-west end of Nairobi station, houses 10 old steam engines built between 1923 and 1955, pictures from the construction of the Uganda Railway, old Railway magazines, maps, drawings and other stock from the colonial period of Kenya.

Langata Giraffe Centre
Langata Giraffe Centre

this is a giraffe conservation project and an educational centre, has conservation and educational programmes for Kenyan children. The centre breeds a small herd of Rothschild's Giraffe, which are endangered specie. Adult and young giraffes can be fed by visitors.

Bomas of Kenya
Bomas of Kenya

Established in 1971 in Langata by the government to preserve, maintain and promote Kenyan Culture through entertainment programmes, ‘Bomas’ is means ‘An African Homestead’. Bomas displays traditional villages of several Kenyan tribes, visitors can see exhibits of traditional Kenyan homes, artifacts, daily performances of dances and music, good food, and shops nearby. The center also holds the biggest theatre in Africa with 3,500 seats.

Jamia Mosque
Jamia Mosque

The Mosque is one of the most prominent religious structures. Its silver domes and two twin minarets make of Jamia Mosque one of the most attractive buildings in Nairobi. Non-Muslims need special permission to step inside.
